ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to determine the Effect of conflict management on the Performance of employee’s in Taxation Centre Buea. The findings will be used to improve performance through the conflict handling mechanisms that will be investigated as the most appropriate.

A descriptive survey research design was adopted. The study ‘s sample frame was the staff register that is managed at the Human Resource Department, the study used Structured questionnaires were the method used to collect data based on the research questions.

The results were analyzed scientifically and objectively using the statistical package for Social Sciences.

Data analysis adopted both descriptive and inferential statistics where regression analysis was used. The first research objective was to ascertain the extent to which negotiation as a conflict management strategy influences organization performance in taxation Centre Buea.

The findings of the study indicated that a majority of the respondents agreed that negotiation does not affect employee’s performance in Taxation Centre Buea. In addition, the study revealed a negative relationship between negotiation and employee’s performance.

The second research objective was to establish the extent to which communication as a conflict management strategy influences employee’s performance in Taxation Centre Buea. The study findings indicated that most of the respondents agreed that communication influences employee’s performance.

Similarly, the studies indicated a positive relationship between communication and employee’s performance, the third research objective was to determine the extent to which third party as a conflict management strategy influences employee’s performance in Taxation Centre Buea.

As per the findings, there was a positive relationship between communication and increased Employee’s performance. It can be concluded that, Negotiation was not significant were as communication and Third party interventions were statistically significant.

The study concluded that there is good conflict management in place. Regarding recommendations for improvement, the management of Taxation Centre Buea should focus on increasing the utilization of conflict management strategies like Negotiation, communication and third party intervention to increase employee’s performance.
